Myth: Cats are insensitive and aloof to their human counterparts.

False! Cats are cognitively able to sense a human’s feelings and overall mood.

Did you ever notice that your cat seems more attentive when you aren’t feeling well? They can tell you’re feeling down and want to comfort you as you comfort them!

Myth: Dogs hear better than cats.

Not true! Not only can cats hear much higher pitched sounds than humans, they also hear sounds one octave higher than dogs.

In technical terms, while humans hear up to about 20 kilohertz and dogs near 40 kilohertz, cats rule! They can hear higher pitched sounds up to 60 kilohertz (but no, they probably still won’t respond when you call them).

In 1999, Executive Director Donna Sicuranza spoke to students at the Walsh Intermediate School in Branford about the importance of spay/neuter for cats. It was a great group - all grown up now - but the message hasn't changed: spay or neuter your pet! TEAM staffers are still happy to talk to school groups - just give us a call!

Here is a thank you note from one of the students who was there.
